Finally, the tour ends in Fes.
begins with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation or Fes airport. We head south, first stopping in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style houses and cool climate. After enjoying this charming town, we continue on to the Cedar Forest, where you can see the playful Barbary macaques. Feel free to interact with them as you stroll through the forest. Next, we drive to Midelt, where we’ll stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue our journey towards Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert, passing through the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz River. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we’ll swap our vehicles for camels and embark on a ride through the golden sand dunes. We’ll make a stop to witness the stunning sunset from the top of a dune before heading to our Berber desert camp. Enjoy a traditional evening with drumming, dancing around the campfire, and stargazing under the vast desert sky. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
The next morning, we wake up early to catch the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, we return to Merzouga on camels. We then head to Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region, where we’ll explore the bustling souks, especially lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Our journey continues to Erfoud, famous for its fossils, where we will visit a local workshop to see how fossils are transformed into unique marble products. Afterward, we drive to the Todra Gorges, a stunning canyon carved by the Todra River with dramatic red cliffs. It’s a great spot for hiking and rock climbing, and you’ll have time to explore the area. After lunch, we head to the Dades Valley, stopping at the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and a viewpoint overlooking the valley for some fantastic photo opportunities. We finish the day with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we drive to the Rose Valley near Kalaa Magouna, known for its rose fields. If you’re traveling in May, you may catch the Rose Festival, where locals sell rose-based products such as perfumes, oils, and cosmetics. We continue our journey through the lush Skoura palm groves, before arriving in Ouarzazate, also known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Here, we’ll visit the famous movie studios where films like Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones were shot. Then, we travel to the stunning Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village has been featured in many movies and TV shows. Afterward, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, which offers breathtaking views along the way. We’ll make stops for photos and lunch before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon. The tour ends with a drop-off at your accommodation or the airport.
