Your 4-day desert tour begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech. You’ll embark on a drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, taking the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Along the way, you’ll make stops to enjoy panoramic views of the breathtaking landscapes.
Next, you’ll visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This remarkable location has served as the backdrop for many films, including *Gladiator*, *Alexander*, and *The Mummy*, as well as the TV series *Game of Thrones*. After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, you’ll head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” You’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at a local hotel.
After breakfast, your exploration of Ouarzazate begins. You’ll visit the Atlas Studios, famous for hosting various film productions, followed by a tour of the Taourirt Kasbah, an ancient fortified mud castle.
From there, you’ll depart for Agdz, where you’ll join the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco. As you drive along the valley, you’ll stop to take in the panoramic views of palm groves, stunning Kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages. You’ll have free time for lunch in either Nkob or Alnif.
After lunch, continue your journey to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, passing through Rissani. Once you arrive at the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, you’ll switch to camels for a trek across the Sahara. A stop will be made on top of a large dune to witness the magical sunset. Finally, you’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp, which combines traditional nomadic tents with hotel-like amenities. Enjoy an evening of Berber drum music around the campfire under a sky full of stars. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp.
Begin your day by waking up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise in the Sahara Desert. After enjoying breakfast, you’ll ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting. From there, you’ll head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, known for its vibrant souk that comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After exploring the bustling market in Rissani, you’ll continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Then, you’ll drive through the picturesque palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before arriving at the stunning Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved a majestic canyon through the mountains, creating towering red cliffs that are a paradise for rock climbers. Take some time to wander through the gorges and admire the stunning landscape.
You’ll have free time for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. Don’t miss the iconic “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and enjoy a stop at a viewpoint overlooking the valley. In the evening, you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night at a hotel.
On the final day of your desert tour, you’ll head to Kalaa Magouna to explore the Rose Valley, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May, where local artisans showcase rose products such as perfumes, rose water, and oils.
Next, you’ll drive past various Kasbahs, including the Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by the palm groves of Skoura. Upon reaching Ouarzazate, you’ll have free time for lunch in town. Afterward, you’ll make your way back to Marrakech, crossing the scenic Tizi-N-Tichka pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech, concluding your memorable tour.
