A ITINERARY : 3 DAYS FROM MARRAKECH TO FES VIA DESERT

Your 5-day Morocco desert tour begins with an early pickup from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. Set off on a scenic drive through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Along the way, you’ll stop to admire panoramic views of the stunning landscapes.

Next, visit the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This iconic location has served as a backdrop for numerous films, including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the TV series Game of Thrones.

Finally, continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as “The Gateway to the Desert.” Enjoy dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

After breakfast, explore the city of Ouarzazate. Begin your day at the Atlas Studios, where many famous films were shot, followed by a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, an ancient fortified mud castle.

Then, depart for Agdz and join the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco. Drive along the valley, taking breaks to enjoy panoramic views of palm groves, stunning Kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages. Enjoy free time for lunch in Nkob or Alnif.

After lunch, continue your journey to the Merzouga Sahara, passing through Rissani. Upon reaching the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, you’ll switch to camels for a trek across the Sahara desert. Stop on a high dune to take in the magical sunset before proceeding to your luxurious desert camp, which combines traditional nomadic tents with modern comforts. In the campsite, enjoy Berber drumming and dancing around a campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the desert. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting for you. Today is dedicated to exploring the remarkable Merzouga region, known for its diverse landscapes, including sand dunes, wild lakes, ancient mines, and lush oases—perfect for outdoor activities.

Begin your adventure with an off-road drive to an ancient eyeliner mine. Then, visit local nomads in their handmade woven tents to learn about their lifestyle over a cup of Berber tea.

Next, head to Khamlia village, where you can experience traditional Gnaoua music and dance performances by residents who have roots in sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, take a stroll through the palm groves. Later, drive a few kilometers to see Merzouga Lake, also known as Flamingos Lake. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

After breakfast, depart the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, known for its vibrant souk that comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Take some time to explore the market.

Next, continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. From there, drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad on your way to the stunning Todra Gorges. This majestic canyon, carved by the Todra River, features impressive red cliffs and is a popular spot for rock climbers. Feel free to wander through the gorges and soak in the natural beauty, with free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, proceed to Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. Don’t miss the iconic “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and stop at a viewpoint overlooking the valley. End your day with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 5: Dades Valley to Marrakech

On the final day of your Morocco desert tour, we begin by heading to Kalaa Magouna to explore the beautiful Rose Valley, known for its annual Rose Festival in May. During this festival, locals showcase a variety of rose products, including perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics.
