Your 6-day Morocco desert tour begins with an early pickup from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. Set off on a scenic drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Enjoy panoramic stops to take in the breathtaking landscapes along the way.
Visit the Kasbah of Telouat, an impressive fortress rich in history, before continuing to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a fortified village known for its stunning architecture and appearances in films like Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the TV series Game of Thrones. Finally, arrive in Ouarzazate, often referred to as “The Gateway to the Desert.” Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast, visit the Atlas Studios, where many renowned films were shot, and explore the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Then, head southeast to Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by lush palm groves in Skoura.
Continue to the Rose Valley, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May, where locals showcase their rose products, including perfumes and cosmetics. Drive through the Dades Valley, stopping at scenic viewpoints to admire the stunning landscape of the Dades Gorges.
Next, arrive at Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved impressive red cliffs into the mountains. Enjoy free time for lunch and wander through the gorges to appreciate the natural beauty.
In the afternoon, reach the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch to camels for a ride across the sandy dunes, with a stop to witness the magical sunset from a high dune. Finally, arrive at your luxurious desert camp, where you can enjoy traditional Berber music and dance around the campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Rise early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the desert. After enjoying breakfast, return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting. Today, you’ll explore the fascinating Merzouga region, known for its stunning landscapes, including sand dunes, wild lakes, ancient mines, and lush oases—perfect for various outdoor activities.
Your adventure begins with an off-road drive to an ancient eyeliner mine. Next, visit the local nomads in their handcrafted woven tents and learn about their traditional lifestyle while sipping Berber tea.
Continue to Khamlia village, where you can experience the vibrant Gnaoua music and dance performances, with roots tracing back to sub-Saharan countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant.
Afterward, take a leisurely stroll through a palm grove before driving a short distance to the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingos Lake. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast, depart the desert for Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Explore its lively souk, especially vibrant on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Next, continue to Erfoud, where you’ll visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble. Following this, drive along the picturesque Ziz River, stopping for panoramic views of the Ziz Valley.
Take a break for lunch in Midelt, then head to the cedar forests, home to the playful Barbary macaques. Enjoy the opportunity to feed them as you wander through the forest.
Finally, visit Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture and cooler climate, often dubbed the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Conclude your journey by arriving at your accommodation in Fes.
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your accommodation to explore the city of Fes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and a cultural and religious hub.
Your day begins with a visit to the Royal Palace gate, followed by a tour of the well-preserved medieval Medina, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter the Medina through the iconic Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, where a local guide will lead you through the narrow streets. You’ll visit notable sites, including the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine Fountain, and the Tanneries, culminating with a stop at the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, recognized as the oldest university in the world.
Next, we will explore the Jewish quarter, known as the Mellah. Afterward, we’ll drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the Medina and the city of Fes. Finally, return to your accommodation for the evening.
After breakfast, we’ll pick you up for a brief tour of Fes, allowing you to soak in any last sights before your departure. Following the tour, we will transfer you to the airport. This marks the end of your Morocco desert tour.
