Day by Day Itinerary
Departure from Agadir (9:00 AM). Drive north along the Atlantic coast road through the unique argan forest (arganeraie), a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where goats famously climb the thorny trees to eat the fruit. Stop at a women's argan oil cooperative for a demonstration of the traditional oil production process. Continue to Essaouira — arrive early afternoon. Explore this extraordinary UNESCO-listed port city: the 18th-century blue-and-white ramparts and sea bastions (skala), the medina with its vibrant art galleries and wood marquetry workshops, the busy working fishing port, and the broad windswept beach. Essaouira has hosted Jimi Hendrix, and is famous for its annual Gnaoua World Music Festival. Overnight in Essaouira riad.
Morning free in Essaouira — ideal for a sunrise walk on the beach, a final coffee on the ramparts, or browsing the antique and craft shops. Midday departure for Marrakech (2.5 hour drive inland through argan and olive groves). Arrive mid-afternoon. Check into your traditional riad in the medina. Late afternoon guided walk through the Djemaa el-Fna — Marrakech's legendary main square, a UNESCO cultural space alive with snake charmers, musicians, henna artists, orange juice vendors, and food stalls that set up at dusk. Overnight in Marrakech.
Morning guided tour of Marrakech's UNESCO medina: the Koutoubia mosque minaret, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the labyrinthine souks — spices, leather, lanterns, Berber carpets and silver jewellery. Optional visit to Jardin Majorelle (the famous blue garden created by the French painter and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent). Lunch on a medina rooftop terrace. Free afternoon for shopping and exploring before drop-off at Marrakech airport, train station, or hotel.
