Day by Day Itinerary
Pick-up from your hotel in Ouarzazate (8:00 AM). Visit the legendary UNESCO Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou — Morocco's most-filmed monument (Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia). Drive east through the Skoura palm grove — the "oasis of a thousand kasbahs." Continue through the Valley of Roses (famous for damask rose production) and into the dramatic Dades gorges with their extraordinary "monkey fingers" rock formations. Overnight in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, drive to Tinghir oasis — a spectacular green oasis surrounded by palmeries. Walk through the dramatic Todra Gorges — 300m high red rock walls carved by the Todra river, perfect for photos. Continue through Erfoud (fossilized marble workshops) to Merzouga. Late afternoon sunset camel trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Watch the sky transform from orange to purple over the Sahara. Traditional Moroccan dinner, live Gnawa music, and overnight in the luxury Berber desert camp.
Rise before dawn for the spectacular Sahara sunrise over Erg Chebbi. Full day exploring the desert: 4×4 excursion to the Merzouga flamingo lake and nomadic Berber families, sandboarding down the dunes, visit Khamlia village for live Gnawa music, optional quad biking. Second magical night in the desert camp under a sky full of stars.
Second spectacular Sahara sunrise. Breakfast at camp. Visit Rissani souk — the historic capital of the Tafilalet and birthplace of Morocco's ruling Alaouite dynasty. Drive south through Zagora (the "gateway to the Sahara") then north along the magnificent Draa Valley — Morocco's longest river valley lined with thousands of date palms and ancient kasbahs. Overnight in Agdz.
After breakfast, continue along the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate. Cross the spectacular High Atlas mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260m) — panoramic stops for stunning views of the Atlas peaks and Berber kasbahs. Arrive in Marrakech by early afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel/riad. Tour ends in Marrakech.
