Day by Day Itinerary
Pick-up from your hotel in Fes (7:00–8:00 AM). Drive south to the alpine town of Ifrane then the Azrou cedar forest — spot the famous Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Lunch in Midelt. Descend through the spectacular Ziz Gorges and the vast Ziz Valley palm grove. Arrive in Merzouga for a sunset camel trek into Erg Chebbi. Berber dinner and live Gnawa music. Overnight in the luxury desert camp.
Rise before dawn for the magical Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, a full day to explore the Erg Chebbi dunes: 4×4 desert excursion to the Merzouga flamingo lake and nomadic Berber families, sandboarding down the dunes, visit Khamlia village for live Gnawa music, and optional quad biking. Second night in the desert camp — second spectacular stargazing evening.
Second Sahara sunrise. Breakfast. Return on camels to Merzouga. Visit Rissani souk and Erfoud fossil workshops. Drive to Tinghir oasis. Visit the breathtaking Todra Gorges — walk through the 300m high canyon walls. Continue to Boumalne Dades for overnight in a hotel overlooking the gorges.
Morning drive through the Dades gorges. Continue through the Valley of Roses and the Skoura palm grove along the "Road of One Thousand Kasbahs". Visit the Ouarzazate Taourirt Kasbah and optional film studios (Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator were filmed here). Visit the UNESCO Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Cross the spectacular High Atlas mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass — the highest paved mountain road in Morocco. Panoramic stops for stunning views of the Atlas peaks and Berber villages. Arrive in Marrakech by early afternoon. Drop off at your hotel/riad. Tour ends.
